Kickboxing
Kick Back is an inspiring documentary-style film that sheds light on Westside Kickboxing, a gym dedicated to changing the narrative around kickboxing. Often seen as a violent sport, this film aims to show the deeper benefits of kickboxing—how it builds both mental and physical strength, providing invaluable skills in self-defense and promoting a healthy mind and body.
Featuring interviews with the gym owner, the film explores how kickboxing is more than just combat; it’s a tool for personal growth. To keep the documentary engaging, I carefully balanced serious insights with light-hearted moments from the interviews, giving it a friendly, approachable tone. One of the most inspiring stories we included is about a boy with autism who joined the gym, and how kickboxing transformed his life. We also touched on a major challenge the gym faced when it burned down, but how the community's resilience helped them rebuild and thrive, just as kickboxing empowers individuals to overcome their personal obstacles.
This documentary is designed to break stereotypes and show the life-changing impact of kickboxing, encouraging more people to sign up and experience its benefits for themselves.
